Bordalás: "The fans gave the players the strength to pull through"
After his first official game in charge of Valencia CF, coach José Bordalás talked about the 1-0 win over Getafe in his post-match press conference.
A deserved victory
"I am proud of the effort from the players, of how much they ran, and of their commitment. They deserved this award. I want to thank the fans on behalf of the squad, because thanks to them we were able to win the game. The team had to put in a tremendous effort. We got the goal when a man down, and we could have scored a second. Curiously, when we were most uncomfortable was when Cabaco was sent off. Perhaps because of the fatigue, or because we had played so many minutes with a man down. The team deserved this victory."
Commitment and effort
"Today we saw a high level of commitment and effort. It is clear that we have to improve. The season has just started and we haven't achieved anything yet. It is not easy to make a radical change in such a short time. Today you cannot criticise any player, because everyone gave everything."

The importance of the fans
"The fans have maximum importance. Their support was incredible today. That gave the players the strength to win the game against a great team."
Soler and Wass
"Carlos showed commitment and that he loves this club. He gave everything. Wass was the same. He has not been able to train like his teammates and today he gave everything. He made clear the commitment he has to Valencia CF."
Identity
"It was a game with great suffering and the fans gave us that boost we needed to get the three points. I enjoyed today a lot because I have seen small signs of the identity that we want from the team."
The transfer market
"I have no doubt that we are following a roadmap and the incorporations we need will arrive, because we all agree on who they are."
Support for Hugo Guillamón
"Hugo felt that he was going to reach that 50-50 ball, and he went in with everything he had. There was no malice, and it was just an unlucky challenge in which perhaps he was a little late. He was affected by this, because he knows that he has hurt his team, but it wasn't intentional. These are experiences that help players to mature. He is a smart player and he will learn from what happened today."
